Weirenism Makeover 4.0 (Phrase II) (10th Nov – 9th December 2008)

9 11 2008

Finally, I’d gained achievement in working on myself. I’m like 8-10kg lighter than two months ago. And I’ve device a plan which aim towards a more balanced success, in terms of body, mind, heart and soul.

The point is to change my habits, to gear towards effective living.

To do that, the plan comes in a form of a four-week timetable. It acts as a test of my time-management skill, which I kind of sucks in, as of now.

A glimpse of new habits that I’ll bring into my life:

  1. Jogging in the early morning.
  2. Meditate and Reflection an hour before sleep.
  3. Sleep early, no later than 12am.
  4. Engage in physical activities daily (well everything here is to be done daily).
  5. One movie per week.
  6. Record and file up my daily expenditure and cash flow.
  7. Punctual for all commitments.
  8. Express gratitude at the start of the day.
  9. Give thanks to others whenever possible.
  10. Show kindness to others whenever possible.
  11. Don’t give up easily.
  12. Speak impeccably.
  13. Do not assume.
  14. Don’t take things personally.
  15. Always do my best.

Well, in life we deal with things that lies in a combination of two factors: Urgency and Importance. Examples of these combinations are:

Combo 1- Urgent and Important: Unemployment, school projects, loved ones in hospital, pressing problems.

Combo 2- Urgent but Not Important: Friends calling you out, social events, watching movies and times when you think the chances of it coming again is low, therefore its urgent to attend.

Combo 3- Not Urgent and Not Important:  Slacking around, chilling out with friends

Combo 4- Not Urgent but Important: Improving oneself, relationship building, finding opportunities

It’s important to note that not all urgent matters are deemed important, and vice-versa. And it requires a proactive mind to work on important matters which are often viewed as non-urgent. And all the while, I’ve engage in all the combo except combo 4.

I admit spending so much time on hanging out with friends and doing stuffs which aren’t very productive. And I’m tired of it. I want to explore combo 4, which I rarely touch on, other than times when I attempt the makeovers, which eventually went overtaken by the other combos.

So my aim now is to tap into Combo 4; matters that aren’t urgent but important. And that requires initiative. Look, who have the desire to change yourself, more than yourself? Therefore, who’ll be there to effectively push you to improve, more than you do. We’re all responsible for ourselves. And we’re responsible for the change that we desire.

A few days ago, on wednesday, I felt happy for USA. One reason is because I woke up that morning to hear that change has come to America. And the more important reason why I’m happy is that I know change has come to me as well. And I’m as happy as those americans who cheer patriotically to embrace the history-in-the-making moment.

I’d been in dormant for long, and its time to be proactive. To get the ball rolling.

I’m taking a turn in strategy for my physical fitness! Now, I’m going to start iron-pumping, 3 times a week! And blade as well, 4 times a week!

I’m changing my diet too. I’m improving my salad recipe and including new ingredients into it. And I’ve change my guidelines on outside food. During phrase I, I was sort of a vegetarian, eating only sashimi and all veggies/fruits. This time, I allow anything that is steam. Therefore I’m eating chicken, pork, seafood, as long as its steam and has an insignificant amount of cooked oil.

I’ve make a promise to myself to attend all lectures, tutorials and labs!

I’ve create a vision board! For those who’d watched “The Secret”, you’ll know what I mean. If not, google it out to find out. Or you can click on the link on the right – Mr. S.W. to find out more on the Law of Attraction.

At the end of 30 days, I’ll sit down and evaluate whether what I’ve done is effective and what can be improve. In 30 days time, I’ll still myself, but with brand new habits.

It’s been said that once a habit is done daily for 90 days, one will have that habit for the rest of his life. Well, I have to be realistic with myself and I’ll plan for 30 days first. I’ll never know what will happen in a few months time. Month by month planning is a preferred choice.

As such for Phrase II, I won’t be coming online that often. In fact I’ll come online only to check my email and to do research on school stuffs. I won’t be blogging as much like before. As for msn, I’ll temporarily shut it down until further notice.

I’m all pumped up and geared towards greatness!

And I shall sum this post up with the following quote:

“The deepest secret is that Life is not a process of discovery, but a process of creation. You are not discovering yourself, but creating yourself anew at every moment. Seek therefore, not to find out who you are, instead seek to determine who you want to be.” – Neale Donald Walsch

The Past Attempts of Weirenism Makeover.

6 09 2008

Salads, planet fitness, east coast park, jogging, cycling. I’m going thru it again! I guess its my 4th attempt if I’m not wrong. I remembered my best success was the very first one, when I was sec 4, time whereby Mr. HHH and his students were in the ‘bodybuilding craze’ and I have my own craze for losing weight, so I get to jog with them daily for a few months! And a few weeks later,Planet Fitness had their branch set up in Parkway Parade, and I was one of their pioneer members. I got a “PTI” trainer, who’s a Manhunt champion, and trained me military style.

Along these time, I formulated a new diet by combining tips from my trainer, Mr.HHH and Aajonus Vonderplatniz: green apple for recess, salad with rice for lunch in school, yong tau foo or Avocado smoothie for dinner. Those were the nights when I diligently spent an hour daily after gym, went to the supermarkets and pick the finest ingredients, went straight home, chop and pick my salad, put it nicely in the lunch box and make a smoothie to drink, the next morning putting the salad in the fridge in the school’s PE office (Mr Fong’s office) await for me to pick it up when the school day’s over. And during recess I no longer join the queue for wanton mee, lor mee, nasi pandang, or whatever that I used to indulge in. Instead, here comes the green green apple, chilled in the fridge. And my friends will look at me! That’s not worse, after school, when I open my salad box, I gained more attention! Initially I felt very very paiseh, I even starve until STARS (sec 4 supplementary class) were over, which was around 4pm, then I ate my salad when the school is almost empty. But well, I got used to it and ate it even if the whole canteen was crowded. And of course, my recess time was badminton time! Roy, would always skip his councillor duty and join me in the hall, as well as the regulars, Edwin and such. I miss playing badminton…

And guess what? It works! After 2-3 months… I lose 10kg! What’s more my fat percentage drop way down and my mass percentage (muscle) increase alot! Stretch marks appear everywhere, and my body got stiffer. My school pant’s belt no longer work effectively as my pants was too big for me, and I always gotta pull my pants. I could run and walk effortlessly now!

Immediately after the success, came the prelims! Because of these commitments, I didn’t really study hard for my prelims, and got like around 25points for prelim, and my E maths got E8! That got me panicking! So I slacken on my weight loss, and chiong all the way for the O levels. So I gained success in Sept, and Oct onwards I stopped for studies. O levels were over during November! And luckily my studies paid off, thanks to Mr. HHH for science tuition, Mrs Lee for English, and Gregory for last minute coaching for maths! In the end I got 1 A1, 1 A2, 3 B3 and 1 B4 and 2C, L1R4 12pts, L1R5 16 pts, CCA 2pts. Phew, that’s it for 4 years of broadrick education.

And that’s it for my secondary school life… AS WELL AS my success in fitness! After Prom Night came the six months long vacation! I ‘planned’ to make a comeback. However, things didn’t follow suit. Well for a couple of weeks I did went to the gym, UNTIL I got a job at MIX @ Changi Airport, selling smoothies, juices and wraps. No more MacDonald’s at that time. And sometimes I work midnight shift. And as day passes by, I just work and work and planet fitness no longer comes into my mind, until the day I step into poly, I grew all the way back to square 1! I could eat and drink all I want at MIX and I literally did that all the time! And during off days I would meet up with friends for movie and dinner. Sigh, a grave mistake indeed. How I wish I didn’t work that holiday, and spend the six months in planet fitness instead… Two months 10kg, six months will be… wow! I could had entered poly will a totally different image! So this second attempt really sucks to the core!

The third attempt was during my first vacation during poly, after I completed semester 1.1, and it’s a year ago since I started my first attempt. My planet fitness membership had expired by then. So I ‘planned’ to jog at bedok reservoir and workout at the CC gym, as I lose faith in myself for not making full use of my membership when I was still a member. Then, my aunt let me join again! This time, I got a new trainer and he’s was an ex-regular commando! He’s bigger than my previous trainer. Both trained in different style. And I have to say the previous one was more effective. I even got Roy to join with me! I tried to get back to the diet, oh yes, it’s called the Zacharian Diet, for goodness sake! However, I was still working at MIX, and don’t have the time and convenience to prepare it. Well this third attempt have some success as I regained my mass percentage and lose of my fat percentage. Then came the festive season! Christmas and Chinese New Year, and slowly… I gained it all back. And after Chinese New Year, or rather since March/April, I rarely stepped into Planet Fitness.

Until this week, I went back to Planet Fitness, just to found out that it was bought over by True Group and is now called True Fitness! I felt a loss of belonging… although it’s just a name of a company, but its a name which I’m grateful to, and felt that I didn’t appreciate much for the opportunities I had in the past.

(I shall continue on the next post)
